Privacy

Ramback works on your Mac. What it sees about your work stays there. This is how the app and this site handle data.

What stays on your Mac

To build the list, Ramback reads process names, command lines, working folders, ports and memory use. Process names, paths and project names never leave your Mac. Neither does anything else it keeps:

What the app sends, and where

These are all of Ramback's network calls.

Anonymous usage counts, only if you say yes

The first launch asks. It's off unless you agree, and you can turn it off in Settings. If it's on, Ramback sends kinds and counts to TelemetryDeck: the app launched, which toolchains it found (Xcode, Android, Docker), which kind of row was stopped, Clean slate used, a pressure warning shown or acted on, a rule turned on, a disk scan's size in GB, the trial started, the upgrade screen opened.

No process names, paths, ports, projects or anything you typed. TelemetryDeck gets a random, hashed ID, not your name or email.

License checks, with Polar

When you activate Pro, Ramback sends your license key and this Mac's name (System Settings › General › Sharing), so you can tell your Macs apart in the customer portal, to Polar, which sells Ramback as merchant of record. The answer is cached in the Keychain, so Pro keeps working offline for 30 days. Polar handles payment, receipts and tax under its own privacy policy. With each order I get your name and email, so I can help with license problems. I never see your card.

Update checks, with ramback.app

Ramback asks ramback.app whether there's a new version (a Sparkle appcast). The request says which app version you run, like any download. Sparkle's optional system profile is off.

Your data, your call

To see, correct or delete anything I hold about you (an order, an email you sent), write to hello@ramback.app. I answer myself.
